Advantage VS disadvantage of ICT

Three weeks PE already, in this three weeks i have looked at the benefits and weak to bring ICT into classroom. In our last 2 assignment already to talk about advantage. However, for disadvantage of ICT as same as Kat’s post on her blog, i agree with what she post such as children accidentally press the button and shut down the computer. It waste time for teacher wait the computer restart again. Beside, smart board also always “run out of track” when i am using smart board to teach. Sometimes, in a lesson i need to adjust the smart board more then 2 times. If you no adjust it with press the two button in front of the smart board, when you write something on it the words you write will move to right  or left, up or down. I found a article: advantages and disadvantage of using ICT in Education. It detail to talk about advantage and disadvantage about ICT in education.

Second week of PE

In second week for PE, the manager want out these few practical students prepare a sport      to integrate ICT in Sport. We prepare a game which have four stations. One station is bubble wrap app game which Megan post it on her blog. Children will feel enjoy and interesting and pay attention in this game. Children should listen carefully and look carefully what number teacher says and the number on teacher hands. In this game, i will feel that interactive between teacher and children are very importance. It is because for some of them who still do not understand the concept of number, teacher should explain to them when the activities is going on.

Flipped classroom

What is flipped classroom? The flipped classroom inverts traditional teaching methods, delivering instruction online outside of class and moving “homework” into the classroom. According to Educause (2012), the flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. During the term is widely used to describe almost any class structure that provides prerecorded teacher followed by in-class exercises. Devoting class time to application of concepts might give children a better opportunity to detect errors in thinking, The flipped model puts more of the responsibility for learning on the shoulders of students while giving them greater impetus to experiment. Through Mrs Frintzilas’s  blog, I can found that advantage and disadvantage of flipped classroom.

First week in PE

Through Kat’s blog, she talk about interesting ways to using iPad and Galaxy Tab in classroom. When i first week in PE, i saw mandarin teacher, Kat use iPad to teach children. Teacher using iPad to teach do counting stokes. In the iPad, i saw line each stroke will appear on the screen according to the proper writing sequence. Children feel interesting and fast to catch how to write the words.  Besides that, i found that top 10 reasons classrooms should have iPad we can see through apps were explored to determine their teaching and learning potential and their accessibility in a range of learning environments.

Important of feedback and self reflection

Thanks for my mentor giving me some feedback from my lesson in my practicum. It is importance of feedback and self-reflection for a teacher when finish the lesson. Through feedback and self-reflection, teacher will know the needs of the children and plan it in the next lesson. In Amy’s blog, she explains about Kate says that through the feedback teacher can improved themselves. Besides that, I also will self-reflection when I finish my lesson to think about what happening and did children learn anything today. In The state of Queensland (QSA)  says that teacher self-reflection can help teacher understand more about the positive impacts of high-quality effective pedagogies on children’s learning (USQ, 2006). Teacher wills more understanding children and creating suitable contexts for children learning.

Happy Mother’s Day

Look through Vicky’s blog, I feel interesting with it especially students using camera to take their work into to the video  It is a good and fun activity. Some more, I saw a video which my friends post on Facebook is about a China school celebrate Mother’s day. All students must call a phone to their mummy and say happy mother’s day to their mummy on that day. Most mummies will feel surprise and some of them frighten and asking their child is it do something wrong then just call to them. Through this we can found that, technology tools can help teacher or children make and strengthen home and school connections (NAEYC, 2012).

Topic interesting?!

When the first day I go to practicum my mentor asks me to show my lesson to her. My theme is same with Puvana “My body part” who do the practicum together with me. When I show my lesson to my mentor, she telling me “hand washing” lesson is too easy for 6 years old student because they learn it before and most of them have the basic knowledge about hand washing. Gosh.. I need to change my lesson again!! “Ok, fine” I told myself. I go online research what activities can I use for hand washing and can make student interesting. Luckily I found it by using potatoes  to do experiment and asking students observe it changing in few days. Then, compare the three differences potatoes. I found that students enjoy this activity by using camera to take the photo and always tell me what they observe. Through this I found that interesting topic also important for teacher prepare the lesson for each learning areas. Interesting topic can help children attract children interest.

Addressing the diversity problem

Look through Ellie’s blog and week 10 about addressing the diversity problem. Technology tools can enhance students’ holistic development. According to NAEYC (2012), technology in children’s learning and development can support and extend traditional materials in valuable ways. Besides that, technology  tools also can help teacher make and strengthen home and school connections, and assisted technology must be available as needed to provide equitable access for children with special needs. For example, just like Ellie says there is no “average” child means no two children are exactly the same. When in practicum I do my lesson to asking student to create their own recipe, I found the problem. Students who are good in language they will use their own words to create their recipe but students who weak in English language will always asking me how to spell the words. Sometimes, they will feel bored because of they do not know English Language. In conclusion, teacher should create difference level lesson by using technology for difference level students.

Interactive White Boards (IWB)

Erica post on her blog, she found that IWB is a great technology tools for integrated ICTs in early years. I like the resources which she found such as PBS Kids Whiteboard Resources and the best free interactive whiteboard resources. These resources can help in student learning.  According to Cruickshank (2007), interactive White Boards into student learning will increase student learning because it is very powerful learning.  Besides that, through the practicum I learn how to using IWB in easy ways and save the time from my mentor such as body part game and so on. In practicum I use IWB with digital storytelling, teaching students how to conduct research on the Internet and working collaboratively on writing and editing exercises such as writing in the lines, math lessons such as fraction games activities, and science experiments such as taste activities.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, form, and data storage service offered by Google.  Jennifer Walsh post on her blog about how she uses Google forms. I also have use Google Docs to discuss group assignment with my course mates. I found that it is very useful and save our times to discuss it. In Chee Hoi’s blog, she has post benefit to use it. Google Docs is a more hard drive space and it will auto save when we finish do. Besides that, Google Docs also support by phone and ipad, it is easy for us to do assignment without the computer.  Now, I like to save my document into Google Docs. It is safety then save the document into my computer. Google Docs  forms give us a powerful, free tool to collect data also.
